Joy Harjo (2005)

A multi-talented artist of the Mvskoke/Creek Nation, Joy Harjo is an internationally known poet, performer, writer and musician. She has published seven books of poetry and has received numerous awards, notably the New Mexico Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts and the Eagle Spirit Achievement Award from the American Indian Film and Video Festival. She has released two CDs of original songs, which feature Joy as poet, singer and sax player. Native Joy For Real, released last fall, crosses over many genres and has been praised for its daring brilliance.
