Jackson Wheeler

Jackson Wheeler was born and raised in Andrews, NC in the mountains of western North Carolina. He attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and graduate school in California where he has lived since 1975. He is the author of two collections: Swimming Past Iceland (Mille Grazie Press, 1993) and A Near Country: Poems of Loss (Solo Press, 1999) with Glenna Luschei, and David Oliveira. He co-edited SOLO: A Journal of Poetry for 10 years and has been published in numerous literary journals. Since 1990 he has hosted a poetry series now housed at the Carnegie Art Museum in Oxnard, California bringing noted poets from all over the state to read.
